- Step 1 Re-entry: Check -

The visa has come. Now it is time for me to go. The mixture of Joy and sadness. Joy to return, sad to leave. Transitions = yuck.

I was cleaning out some of my old papers (back to school cleaning?) and I dug out an old LIFE magazine I have from June 20, 1969 from a second-hand store. The name and address on the mailing label on the cover is:

Mrs. Marietta Schultz
107 Jefferson Street
Middletown, MD 21769

Being curious, I searched for her on the internet and saw that she had probably passed away a few years ago. The obituary had some family names and some more searching has led me to you. I obviously know absolutely nothing about you or your family, and this might not even be your grandmother. If not, sorry to bother you. If so, I just thought I'd pass the strange occurrence on to you- I never knew her, yet was thinking about her today.

Laura-

I used to live in the East, but I moved to Oregon over 15 years ago. I obviously took the magazine with me (I only have the one- who knows where the others ended up). I got it from a friend's parents because Joe Namath was on the cover and I was (and still am) a big Jets fan.

Glad to hear she was a good person. I was sort of hoping to find her, although I suspected it would be a long shot. By the way, one of the articles in the magazine is comprised of college student essays during the Vietnam War. One of them is written by a back then college student named Hillary Rodham!

Anyway, nice to have heard from you.
